Paul Dignan

Paul has a passion for deal making. He feels it first began in his folks’ garage where he would buy and sell cars. Born in Kimba, South Australia Paul’s family moved to Whyalla where his father was an owner of sixteen butcher shops and a small goods operation. Secondary schooling was completed in Adelaide’s Rostrevor College, followed by an Accounting degree at the University of SA.

After cutting his teeth in Public Practice, Paul joined his father’s business as CFO of the Port Pirie Abattoirs which, at the time, had annual turnover of $10m and employed forty-five. Since then Paul has established, grown and sold two accounting practices and is now fully engaged in helping other business owners sell when they make the decision to do so.
Paul believes that many business owners have their exit strategy game plan way too far down the “to-do list” and risk never reaping the true value of goodwill in their enterprise.

“Unfortunately, even good businesses may fail to find a new owner. It is our role as M&A professionals to ensure we chat to as many business people as possible, in many cases years prior to an anticipated sale, so that they are comfortable with DMA’s divestment process, do some housekeeping within their business if necessary and have their advisors on board in regard financial and taxation matters”
