The Goose has a extremely large frontage in a prime location in the heart of Esperance, approximately 200m from the town beach.
It has two bars and two large separate dining areas, as well as a function room with automatic roller doors for privacy. There are three separate walk-in coolrooms and a walk-in freezer. The overall internal building footprint is more than 600m2, plus an outdoor storage area and large open space at the rear which is currently used for staff parking.
We have 20 self owned beer taps which are not contracted to any brewery, allowing you to choose and try beers on tap at will.
We source local produce whenever possible, and have established long-term relationships with local distirbutors. We pride ourselves on our consistently high quality meals and attentive service, which attracts discerning customers. Such is the quality of our clientelle we are proud to say we have never had to call on the police to help with unruly patrons, as is the norm for many licenced premises!
We have a large base of local clientelle which we have built up and nurtured for the last 20 years, as well as a steady trade in tourists already visiting this popular Western Australian town.

Reason for selling
In recent years the we have had to scale back significantly due to our ages and some health concerns. In the past we traded every night of the week but more recently have opened 5 nights at the most, sometimes less. All three partners are in their mid-late 60’s. One has had serious health issues for the last few years, and we are all worn out and ready to retire and enjoy our grandchildren.

With the hard work already done, and HUGE potential for growth, this would be the perfect opportunity for a mover and shaker with energy and new ideas. Or perhaps a young chef wanting to get into their own business.
We’ve never had an aggressive marketing strategy. We have always relied mainly on word-of-mouth advertising and have done for 20 years. This is partly because that’s all we have needed and partly because none of us is particularly computer savvy.
We are fully aware that there are many areas that could be improved and expanded. For example, we have been licenced for take-away alcohol sales for some time, yet it is not something we have ever carried out – two of the owners are chefs so it’s always been more about the food for us. Nor have we looked in to take-away meals, although the demand is certainly there for both. Home delivery would also do very well.
We currently open only five nights a week because that is enough for us. Opening seven nights would show an enormous improvement in turnover. Offering lunches and take-away meals would be massive!
There is substantial room (344m2) at the rear of the building to create a beer garden, a stone’s throw from the beach! Accessible toilets are already there to facilitate this.
Freehold purchase is also an option. In fact the building has the potential to be built up a number of levels to take advantage of the gorgeous ocean views and sea breezes that would bring.
