INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND

Located in the busy Tourist Heart of Nelson Bay NSW, Naked Alley Cafe began life as a Gloria Jeans Franchise in 2004, run as a family owned business. The business was rebranded in 2018 to become Naked Alley, operated by the same family. The current owners of Naked Alley purchased the Cafe in May 2022.


At the time of purchase, the Cafe had operated primarily as a successful “grab & go” type Cafe, with traditional Cafe-style food, consisting of a range of pre-prepared breakfast & sandwich-style lunch items, cakes and sweets.


The current owners have expanded upon this business model, a key feature being the addition of a Liquor License from 10am – 10pm – the Naked Alley Cafe now operates as a Licensed Cafe. The Cafe can accommodate approximately 50 customers, using indoor & outdoor dining areas.


A major improvement has been to upgrade the food preparation area, plus the purchase of catering equipment, which has allowed almost unlimited menu changes and the opportunity to expand and experiment with different culinary ideas. There is not a full catering kitchen, but the upgraded food preparation area does give the opportunity to offer freshly cooked menu items, without the need to employ a qualified chef. Senior staff members are trained in simple fresh food preparation, which currently consists of items such as Bacon & Eggs, Smashed Avo with Poached Eggs, Chicken/ Cheese/Avo Melt on Sourdough, a range of home made Burgers, Fresh Fruit Salads and Garden Salads to accompany brought-in meal items such as Lasagne and Frittata.


In winter the menu offers hearty soups and casseroles, all of which are prepared on-site by senior staff.


This expanded, fully flexible menu has resulted in a doubling of turnover in 18 months. The menu is only limited by the owner’s imagination and creative flair, and can be changed at a click on a keyboard. Menus are re- printed regularly, depending on seasonal requirements, and any desired price adjustments

– North facing aspect offering an all round ambient atmosphere, in the heart of the Restaurant district, on the main street with the largest outdoor dining pavement frontage in Nelson Bay. Current Footpath Dining Licence in place
